The issue;

The ability to efficiently improve on the technical aspects of Taekwondo was being hindered by the geographical location of our members.

The solution;

Create an environment where athletes can assemble every 6 weeks in a centrally located area in one of four regions around the country and work together to share resources that will benefit everyone involved.

the how;

Athletes register on an annual basis to a squad in one of four regions to participate in combined regional squad training sessions every 6 weeks.  The sessions are four hours and are overseen by a Lead Co-ordinator and administered by regional squad directors.  Instructors and coaches are encouraged to be involved in the squads as part of the sharing of information and resources strategy.

Poomsae Squad

The development of Poomsae is an important NZETKD strategy and the resources we provide through our Poomsae squad program continue to improve the fundamental technique of our members throughout the country.

Athletes register for a squad in one of four regions, Upper North (Tauranga), Lower North (Palmerston North), Upper South (Christchurch) and Lower South (Dunedin).  The squad comes together for a 4 hour training every 6 weeks and is provided with the latest up to date Poomsae resources.

See the Poomsae Committee for further information.

Kyorugi Squad

The development of Kyorugi is also an important NZETKD strategy and the resources we provide through our Kyorugi squad program continue to improve the fundamental technique of our members throughout the country.

Athletes register for a squad in one of four regions, Upper North (Auckland), Lower North (Palmerston North), Upper South (Christchurch) and Lower South (Invercargill).  The squad comes together for a 4 hour training every 6 weeks and is provided with the latest up to date Kyorugi resources.

See the Kyorugi Committee for further information.
