The development of Poomsae is an important NZETKD strategy and the resources we provide through our Poomsae squad program continue to improve the fundamental technique of our members throughout the country.
Athletes register for a squad in one of four regions, Upper North (Tauranga), Lower North (Palmerston North), Upper South (Christchurch) and Lower South (Dunedin). The squad comes together for a 4 hour training every 6 weeks and is provided with the latest up to date Poomsae resources.
Samantha is the cornerstone of the Poomsae program and provides the Poomsae Directors with up to date resources and information to pass on to squad members. Samantha is arguably New Zealand's most experienced and successful Poomsae competitor and in recent times has turned her attention toward coaching.
Chloe has been a member of the Poomsae squads from their beginning and has been a National and Oceania champion. Although still competing, Chloe has progressed into a teaching role and shares her expertise overseeing the Upper North Poomsae squad.
Sharon has successfully competed in New Zealand and around the world, including World, Oceania and Commonwealth championships. Sharon will oversee the Lower North Poomsae Squad which was the first squad in the country and at one time contained 9 of the 11 New Zealand Poomsae team members.
Campbell has been a member of the Poomsae Squad from its beginning and has been a National and Oceania Champion in both individual male and pairs Poomsae. Campbell will oversee the Upper South Poomsae Squads and share his Poomsae expertise.
Sue has been successful in implementing the Poomsae Squad in the Lower South for the past two years. The number of registered athletes and instructors has grown significantly over this period as has the standard of Poomsae in the region which is reflected in competitions and examinations.
